Iconic book covers?

Postby TontoBronto » Fri Aug 13, 2010 5:54 am

I bought a used copy of "Catcher in the Rye" and was a bit surprised when it DIDN'T have the cover I was expecting--

Seems like decades that people were carrying around that simple orangish-red cover with just text of "Catcher in the Rye JD Salinger."

Any other covers that were similarly iconic???

Probably has something to do with when one went to school, but the cover of "Ulysses" above, with the mismatched letters, was what everyone had in the 70s.
Searching Google images suggests it wasn't all that common??

LOL, I still have both those books with the covers as pictured! Literally took me 30 years to get through Ulysses, and then only with the help of an audio edition brilliantly narrated by Donal Donnelly and Miriam Healy-Louie (which I highly recommend). Catcher In The Rye on the other hand was about 6 hours.
I don't know nothing except change will come
