So, seeing as baseball struck up again yesterday, and tonight I'm all stressed out from watching the NCAA final...here's a thread for us sports junkies to get out some much-needed aggression.
I am an extremely partisan sports fan, myself, and root passionately for the Carolina Panthers (my NFL team), the UNC Tarheels (GO ROY'S BOYS! Kick some Illini ASS!!), and while I am in my secret heart of hearts a Mets fan (I grew up in the shadow of Shea Stadium, right near LaGuardia Airport), I am a New Yorker above all and I will root for any team that is NOT the Boston Red Sux, including the Yankees. Speaking of which, hahahaaaaaa, last night's 9-2 score says that Boston fans shouldn't rest on those laurels!!! Go Ti-NO, I heart you Hideki.
Let the games begin,
~Elise

Hideki Matsui frightens me, he looks like he could be a hit-man. See, the thing I like most about my Red Sox, is that they're not quite the assholes that the Yankees tend to be. That's probably why I can't stand David Wells being on the team.
Elise, I hope we can put this all behind us... poopyhead.
Subtly eccentric...

I'm sure that nobody will agree with me, but: GO ANGELS!
P.S. We miss David Eckstein and Troy Glaus. And Troy Percival, kinda.

All you watch, my beloved Mariners will come from behind and kick EVERYONE'S ass!!!
(even I am aware that's crap, but a girl can dream.)
Are there any other basketball fans (not college ball) ?
My Sonics are still going strong, they are #3 or 4 in the NBA. Believe you me, that's exciting.

LOL! Would it be these laurels that you're referring to?

Possibly. Don't get too comfy there, now.
GO HEELS! I HEART ROY'S BOYS!
Haha, Rashad McCants is such a badass most of the time...but he looks so happy in that picture. You just gotta love him. And I'm so happy for Roy. No more of this "coach with the most NCAA tournament wins but no title" crap.
Damn, I wish I had been in Chapel Hill last night for the celebration! Apparently people were climbing the walls of the buildings on Franklin Street and building bonfires.

Umm. Jon- I don't want to be viewed as just another obnoxious Yankee fan but do the numbers "26" and "1" mean anything to you?

Sure they do, especially the "1" part! They'll always have the 26 wins, but the Yankees lost all that swagger last October, Arlene. Sorry!

To be continued....in October....
And one thing about guys like Jeter and Bernie and Mariano and Tino and Posada... I've always thought of them as class acts who DIDN'T swagger (but I'll agree that can't be said of everyone who has worn the pinstripes in recent years)

All that stuff about the Yankee swagger is BS. I've never seen baseball fans as pompous as the Bostonians. It's like just because their team has lost for the past 80 years, that no one is allowed to be as ardent baseball fans as they are. Whatever!
Anyway, I just hope that the Boston fans will quit their whining now that they finally managed to win the Series. Now you can't blame the curse, guys - now when you lose, it'll all be on you. No more blaming the Great Bambino.
All in fun of course,
~Elise

Three great things this past week. My beloved Reds sweeping the Mets, Tiger Woods chip shot on 16, and the Yankees standing at the dugout applauding The Red Sox as champs. That's a class act.

OH YEAH, BABY!!!!
My Sonics have beat, oh no wait, slaughtered the Kings in the first round.
Being the hardcore Sonics fan that I am it has been long overdue (nearly 10 years) since we have gone this far.
I was supposed to be at this game (damn it, damn it, damn it) but my mom had surgery this morning, so it didn't happen but you can bet I'll be at the next one.
Man, I'm so happy!!! I live for this shit!
WOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Detroit Pistons just beat the 76'ers and I actually watched the game! Now they move to round two of the playoffs, they're on their way to a second championship!
How lovely and how doomed this connection of everyone with lungs.
