Eliza Gilkyson

Yes, there's a whole world of music out there besides Patty.

I had no idea who she was until I saw her a few years back in Kerrville.
Amazing.

OK, I found a source for the only album I didn't have by Eliza, "Undressed." It's so great to have every one by her.

Oh my God....this "Undressed" might be her best album. WOW! I have to compare it to "Love From The Heart" which is only Vinyl which I'm importing and making into a CD.

Oh, how sweet. I just found out Eliza has yet another album that is not even listed on her own website, titled "Eliza" which I'll have in a few days.

Just heard Eliza's duet with Shawn Colvin "Calm Before the Storm" from Paradise Hotel.

I'm gonna need this album......soon.

I was trolling KUT's archives and came across the following: http://www.kut.org/site/PageServer?page ... kosarchive (You have to scroll down to her name and August 10th)
"You've got to sing like you don't need the money, love like you'll never get hurt. You've got to dance like no one is watching. It's gotta come from the heart, if you want it to work."
~Susannah Clark

"Ginger Rogers did everything that Fred Astaire did. She just did it backwards and in high heels." ~Molly Ivins

"If I had to live my life again, I'd make the same mistakes, only sooner."
~Tallulah Bankhead

Oh thanks for that Arlene!!! I just finished capturing it, converting to WAV, enhancing with Steinberg Clean program, burning to CD, and ripping to high quality MP3's. I added some reverb and stereo separation, so it sounds pretty sweet now....especially for starting out as a Real Audio file. Send me a PM if interested.

Here is a sample http://home.earthlink.net/~pcstuff/Gilky

There are also a couple of nice sets from Suzanne Vega (8/5), Kasey Chambers (4/22), Mary Gauthier (3/17) , Bob Schneider (2/24), Hem, Jesse Sykes, Ani DiFranco, Kimmie Rhodes, bunch of other nice artists the more I listen.

Good lord. What a great find, Arlene. Thanks for sharing.
Eliza's talent could make Dylan rethink some things. Such depth and passion.

LOL....I just stayed up all night capturing all the shows. Too many unknowns were fabulous. Only Anna Egge's link is broken.

Here's another link to a concert by Eliza G: http://www.folkalley.com/music/extras/gilkyson/

(The interview is interesting but for the concert, hit the second link.)

Eliza recently did an interview for "The Progressive". She played 2 songs during the interview: "Calm Before the Storm" and "Man of God". You can listen to it or download it; you can also download "Man of God" separately.

and...

Eliza was on Minnesota Public Radio: The Current, on 11-18-05.
In-Studio Appearances 2005. (Scroll down to the links for Eliza)

There are many other fine artists that have appeared there: "Ida", "Aimee Mann", "Erin Mckeown" and "Lucy Kaplansky" among many others. Their interviews/performances are all archived.

What a great post, kcguy and welcome to the forum.

I was beginning to wonder if anyone else was aware of Ida.
Cool links.
