So! Who are you going to see play?

Yes, there's a whole world of music out there besides Patty.

'Tis the season to be jolly! Great show from Grace Potter & the Nocturnals last Friday at Webster Hall (Grace even wore an ultra-short black dress and her red boots for me) and an amazing concert by Anais Mitchell at the Watchung Arts Center in NJ last night. Here's a couple of samples, rather a study in contrast:

Grace - Sweet Hands

Anais - Two Kids

Also have a reservation to see Bela Fleck & the Flecktones play at the legendary Blue Note jazz club on 12/18.

I've been to a number of excellent concerts recently.

A few weeks ago I saw REK in SC and then at the Ryman. Todd Snider opened for him and it was a fantastic show. The following two nights, Mary Gauthier opened for Todd in Covington, KY and Indy. (I met Mary -- it was soooooo great and she is so friggin' cool. I really have to thank Russell for introducing me to her music.)

Last Saturday, I saw Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion.

Next week I'm going to see Elisabeth Von Trapp ... . Seriously, it's a concert I'm looking forward too. I've been a huge fan of The Sound of Music since birth  , and have heard the Von Trapp's in various settings over the past five years or so. The family is multi-talented and fun.

Sometimes, it's the nostalgia of it all that gets to me. Kinda like when Sarah Lee and Johnny closed their show by asking the audience to join them in singing, "This Land is Your Land." I was envisioning Woody on some train, writing song after song, and fighting for the people with words. ho-hum.

Wooohooo!!! I just saw them last month here in the states. They were amazing, as usual. Enjoy, Annika! I certainly did.

Let me add, I hope you're Thunderstruck!

One of mine, too. Riff Raff is my favorite but they don't do it anymore. Can't figure out why. It's got some of the best riffs ever laid down on any song, period. I went to the show last month with my friend and his two kids. An eight-year-old and a five-year-old. They were singing along... "SHE'S GOT THE JACK!!!"

Any other AC/DC fans out there besides Annika, Ian and myself? C'mon, you know you love 'em.

The Almighty J. Geils Band - tomorrow night for a Saturday Night Ass Shaker.

The guys just rocked it out for 3 hours tonight. My phone was buzzing all night since I have several siblings and friends at the show. They are Detroit's adopted sons and it is always very special when they come here.

Wish you were gonna be here, Scotty...
