No thread for Kasey? :?

Well, I really enjoyed Kasey's first CD, "The Captain," but after seeing her perform at the NFF, I wish I had them all!! She is really amazing, and I can't wait to see her play again. :D

I think her other two albums are even better than The Captain. She and her kick-ass band (including her dad who's great on guitar and lap steel) always do a great show too, I've seen them four times now.

I was blown away by Kasey when The Captain was released. There was a sticker on the CD wrapper with a quote from some magazine that read something like, "You know Kasey Chambers is a gifted performer when her music can bring Lucinda Williams to tears."
I've never seen her live, unfortunately, but I know she's great.

I loved The Captain when it first came out too (still do) but then when Barricades And Brickwalls came out I was totally obsessed.

To me, Barricades And Brickwalls is her best work. It's flawless.

And like Turk, I have never seen her live either

Barricades & Brickwalls is also my favorite of her records - I like her latest a lot as well. I've also never seen her live.

You guys realize that there's a Kasey DVD??? "Behind the Barricades" that's made in Oz.
It's in the PAL format, so it probably won't play in many US/Canadian players,
but I've got an Americanized version if anyone wants it. Normally, I wouldn't
copy a commercial release, but since it's "unplayable" here, I think it'd be kosher.

You're quite welcome, Elizabeth.
A copy will be on its way to Nicole E. E. shortly...........

In an act of incredible prescience, I'm burning a disc for keith as well, expecting he'll post soon requesting a copy.
Wonder if he PREFERS +R or -R discs??? (the computer will burn either type).

I love Kasey, I think she's amazing and I'd agree with the consensus so far re Barricades and Brickwalls, it's my favourite as well.
I love the song The Captain, I could listen to it all day especially the live version on KGSR Vol. 11 ( and the photos of Patty on that cd are fabulous!)

There is some great stuff in the merchandise store on Kasey's site but trying to buy anything is a complete nightmare. It drives me nuts.

Two years ago, I spent a few months in Australia and I was living in Sydney when Slim Dusty died. I joined the crowds outside St Andrews Cathedral for his State Funeral and it was a really moving and poignant service. I certainly shed a few tears but when Kasey got up to sing, her performance was so touching and so beautiful that I lost it completely (and I wasn't the only one).
And I'll remember that moment for the rest of my life because as I stood there in the sunshine watching Kasey perform, tears streaming down my face, a woman standing next to me (a complete stranger) put her arm around my shoulder and sort of gave me a hug. It was just such a wonderful, spontaneous moment, one human being reaching out to another. I'm welling up just thinking about it now. It meant a lot to me.

Is Kasey's mum Diane still handling the online merchandise, lol? That always was a touch and go situation.

Some nice pics from the balcony at Irving Plaza a couple of years back at http://kbergend.tripod.com/kc2003a/ .

I was introduced to Kasey after a show in NY last year by a friend and fellow KC fan who's a flight attendant for Delta out of Boston (she's friendly with Kasey's dad Bill).

Hey Keith- I was at the 6/12/03 Irving Plaza show by Kasey AND was standing in the balcony at the railing with my friend Kathryn, whom you met a year later at the Buddy Miller show at Bowery Ballroom!!! Too bad we didn't meet up a year earlier.

I bet we've attended dozens of the same concerts over the years in NYC and never knew we were both there.
