Teddy Thompson

Yes, there's a whole world of music out there besides Patty.

Trying to find the lyrics for it.

Down Low is my favorite cut as well. I have scanned the internet for the lyrics with no luck. There are 2 or 3 lines that I cannot quite make out. Not giving up though. Have you listened to the last hidden track?

Anyone interested in hearing Teddy's previous album Separate Ways can listen in it's entirety here.

I have a question for you....I have never been on that site but I sure enjoyed listening to Separate Ways-is this strictly to listen to while on that site or is there a way to download onto my computer? Thanks....

becmurr - I have downloaded some freeware software from Download.com but never the music. I haven't investigated as to whether or not music is legally downloadable from there. I'm assuming it can be. They do have some free mp3 dowloads for some artists.
I just Googled "Separate Ways" and found the album on that site.

I imagine that people with audio stream recording software can dowload it illegally. But I've not done it and do not suggest it.

They also have Teddy's latest Upfront and Down Low available for listening.

That had to be a great show. I ADORE Emmylou and now, Teddy Thompson.

I missed TT performing "Change of Heart" on Letterman a few weeks back but found it on YouTube.

Thanks for that-I think Dave really liked him, he does have some great musical guests on his show.

Yes the EmmyLou show was wonderful-my first time seeing her but I actually got the tickets for my husband(huge fan) for his birthday & the show was postponed-well worth the wait & Teddy was great & they did a duet.

I saw EL at the same venue I saw Patty-The Egg in Albany. Saw Patty Loveless there too-awesome place to see a show....

Don't know him, but my friend Frank really likes him and he's opening for Suzanne Vega, who I got tickets for, so now I'm even more excited. Thanks for the heads up, y'all. I will defintely get there in time to catch him.

Okay, during a jam session with my brother and a bottle of Cuervo, we tried to make out the words to Down Low.
They could be correct; they could not, but here's our attempt.

love, i've been thinking of you
and the things i used to do
and the trouble i made
love, you'd be better off dead
with a bullet in your head
than to come back to me

keep it on the down low
don't tell everybody you know
i loved you more than i showed
but i'm only a man
and my pride makes me mad
if only ever leave me to sorrow

so burn all the letters i sent
with every word they are meant...and too, that one lied
and forget every nice thing i said
they were thoughts in my head that would make you cry

keep it on the down low
don't tell everybody you know
i loved you more that i showed
but i'm only a man
and my pride makes me mad
but only ever leave to sorrow

i was making you sad
i have a heart but it's bad

keep it on the down low
don't tell everybody you know
i loved you more than i showed
but i'm only a man
and my pride makes me mad
only ever leave me to sorrow

so go, good luck, try to go
break the habits i showed
while you still got time
and find someone who'll care
for you and himself
while you still got time

Ok I think you nailed it 8) , the only part where it might be a little off is

only ever leave me to sorrow-I hear -only ever lead or leads me to sorrow but either way works...

He did this last year when he opened for Emmylou....

I always heard

but my pride makes demands
it only leads me to sorrow.

I'll have to listen again
Sometimes you wonder if your walking in the wrong direction.

This makes perfect sense!

But I'm only a man, and my pride makes demands
That only ever lead me to sorrow

Thanks to both of you for clearing this up.
I would blame it on the tequila but I've listened to this song repeatedly and could never "get" it.
This is still my favorite song on the record. Upfront and Down Low is one of my contenders best Album of 2007.

I ordered Separate Ways from iTunes---my first digital purchase!-- and I'm loving it. Especially like the title track.
