Teddy Thompson

Yes, there's a whole world of music out there besides Patty.

Most male singers that I like have rough voices (i.e. Petty, Springsteen, Peter Himmelman, John Hiatt), but this guy has pipes. Usually guys with really good voices make me cringe because they do yucky (I know, very tenchnical term that) music, but not Teddy. He was just amazing, and funny, self-efacing, cute. I haven't been this much head over heals musically since, well, Patty.

Oh, and for all you fans, he said that he's just finished a new CD, but he sort of made a reference to it not being totally finished (I assume he meant production stuff), so I'm not sure how soon it'll be out, but I assume sometime this year. Yay!

Also, for all of those who have seen him live, I have one question. At the concert here in SF, the audience was mostly in the 40's to 60's range. I was surprised, since he's only in his early 30's, that there weren't more younger people there as well. I'm just wondering if that's just an SF thing and that in other parts of the country he has a younger fan base as well, or does his music appeal to an older crowd (of which I'm definetely a part of--I'm not being agist, I'm just curious). 9

Anyway, I'll be reliving that concert for a while.

Glad to hear about the new album!
I haven't seen Teddy live yet but I'm not surprised at the older crowd in attendance at his shows. I'm almost 52 and discovered Teddy less than a year ago. He just blew me away. I am having an affair with his music like I haven't with anyone else in quite a while. Teddy has a great voice with a timbre and quality that not only reflects his talented gene pool, but gives the impression to the listener that his soul is older and wiser in a mature and yes, painful way. I can only speak for myself but I appreciate when a young artist gives me music from the heart like Teddy does. Take all the crappy commercial music on the radio now, combine that with people my age who feel that the great music is a thing of the past, and it's refreshing when someone like Teddy comes along. He sings with heartfelt authority. And the guy can play and write.

I heard Upfront and Downlow first and was hooked. Separate Ways is nothing short of a masterpiece to me.

I can't wait to see Teddy live.

I saw Teddy when he opened for Emmylou about 1 1/2 years ago so the crowd was mostly an Emmylou aged crowd-he won me over & I could not get enough of Seperate Ways.....

There are 3 songs from Teddy's new album on hisMySpace page.

Although Teddy claims that this is his "happy album" there are a couple of songs that beg to differ.Slippery Slope is one of them, and one of my favorites. Download the mp3 here.

Lovin' the new CD, though I'm not sure if anything will every replace Separate Ways. Just wondering if all you Teddy fans know about a CD of his called LA. It is a live CD w/ 5 songs--On My Way, Almost Famous, Shine So Bright, Sorry to See Me Go, and LA. I got it at a great used CD store here in SF. It says that it's out of print. It's short but WONDERFUL. It was recorded in Fez, NY in 2001.

Theoritically, if someone were to PM me about the possibility of getting a copy, theoretically I would be very happy, theoritically, to spread the wealth, since it's not available anymore. Theoretically.

I have "Separate Ways" and I've enjoyed it for awhile now. I don't know why I haven't kept up with this guy, but, after checking out his tour schedule and new tunes ... yeah, he continues to put out some good stuff.

I just recently got Teddy's first album and have been so engrossed that I've not been able to absorb the new album very well yet. In due time....
