FWIW, I used online software--
http://www.youtubetracks.com/
enter the YouTube URL in the box, and it creates an mp3 download (not particularly quickly).
I used Audacity free software to edit the opening out.

Thanks, Bruce!

I was thinking it might be difficult to edit out the announcers at the end (unless you've got Pro Tools). Maybe fade it out before they come on?

I think I'll take a crack at that. And I want a piece of the interview. I love the accent!

Plus, that's a very neat program. I also like Video Download Helper. It's a Firefox extension that records YouTube (or other) videos. Handy for a video iPod. Or, since the files aren't that big, burning a zillion YouTube videos onto DVD.

Haven't done it, but it's tempting.

Beautiful, Gerry.

Nice to see you, too.

I can't stop listening to this song. It reminds me of a lullaby, written from a mother to her child ...

also, for me, it makes me think of words I think of and feel for my mother.

Isn't it difficult to watch a parent age? A parent who was once so fully independant and daily grows more frail and looks to her child ... for something ... anything, to make life more bearable and less painful?

I'm so thankful that I still have my mother, but more and more I fear losing more of her, and sometimes, I wish I had a child of my own so that when she's gone, there will still be someone who needs me.

Tonight, this song has turned me into someone completely pathetic and annoying. I need to learn to say these words out loud instead of writing them, but who would I say them to and who would care ... and "where will you be? Hmmmmmm hmmmmmm hmmmmmm?"

See, pathetic and annoying. I think I'll form a pity-me-party club. Me and Me. We'll meet twice a year -- at Thanksgiving and Christmas. We'll get the holidays behind us and then, rejoice in a new year.

Yours in the Pity-Me-Party Club,
Me & Me

Thanks for posting that song, Gerry.

Major hugs (((Theresa)))

It's not easy with an aging parent. It's a heartbreaking, sometimes humbling, time that tests everything you think you know. It will also alter your holidays, especially Christmastime. I lost my mom after she struggled with a lengthy illness. Just take things as they come and be thankful that you have some time with her now.

How you spend this time will help determine how you will be able to endure tough times ahead. I don't have kids either but I do have loved ones to help with those times now, and there are the memories of the ones gone before that never let me forget the good things that were.

It's not easy, but it's doable.

I'm gonna listen to this song again...

Annie Clark (St Vincent): an uncommon talent (genius?), the least we can say...

Merry Christmas from the Family

This YouTube always makes me smile! Maybe you have to live in the south to find the humor -- I'm not sure!

This is quite humorous. It is also available in the 2009 Christmas mix https://www.box.net/file/353215762/enco ... 662d97adca

But I really don't think that white trash applies specifically to the south.

I'll jump on the Laura Veirs thread here with this lovely YouTube slideshow (my favorite song of her, from Carbon Glacier)

Not the usual kind of stuff that's posted on here but this is something I filmed at a local bar of some guys I know.
Jim actually plays guitar for Thea Gilmore sometimes on her electric tours but when he's not touring with her, FM or doing other session work, he likes to get together and play for fun with his pals.
I've PM'd this to a couple of people here and said I wouldn't bother posting it on the main site but decided for the few who do like this kinda music (Turk maybe), it might be interesting.
If you don't like epic 5 minute guitar solos you might want to give this a miss.
If you DO like epic 5 minute guitar solos then keep watching lol
