Since Patty has included her cover of Waylon Jennings' "I Do Believe" in a couple of shows on the current tour, I thought I'd post this gem:

<object width="660" height="525"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/As3By2kXTZI&hl=en_US&fs=1&rel=0&color1=0xcc2550&color2=0xe87a9f&border=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/As3By2kXTZI&hl=en_US&fs=1&rel=0&color1=0xcc2550&color2=0xe87a9f&border=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="660" height="525"></embed></object>

I Do Believe
By Waylon Jennings

In my own way I'm a believer
In my own way right or wrong
I don't talk too much about it
It's something I keep working on
I don't have too much to build on
My faith has never been that strong

There's a man in that old building
He's a holy man, they say
He keeps talking about tomorrow
While I keep struggling with today
He preaches hell, fire and brimstone
And heaven seems so far away

I do believe in a higher power
One that loves us one and all
Not someone to solve our problems
Or to catch me when I fall
He gave us all a mind to think with
And to know what's right or wrong
He is that inner spirit
That keeps us strong

In my own way I'm a believer
But not in voices I can't hear
I believe in a loving father
One I never have to fear
That I should live life at it's fullest
Just as long as I am here

Ian just introduced me to Karan Casey. This is her take on Joni's "Fiddle and the Drum," from Clouds. Other than Johnny Cash's Hurt, I think this is the most powerful video I've ever seen. Simply devastating. And I wonder if the CGI was done just for this video.

Again, not really the kind of stuff that Patty fans may listen to but I absolutely love this song, despite it making me feel a bit weepy

From the 25th Anniversary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame show at Madison Square Garden. So many to see but these are my three favorites. Jeff Beck and Stevie are grrrrreat. Fergie... wow. Art still sounds amazing. And it's great (and interesting) to see Paul sing so beautifully on his masterpiece.

A few will recognise the name instantly as being part of the classic Fairport Convention line up, some will recognise the voice as being the artist singing backing vocals on Battle of evermore (the only artist ever to guest on a Led Zep album I think?) but I doubt many here will ever have seen this rare clip of Sandy Denny playing live.

That Sandy Denny video prompted me to reach for the Led this weekend and although I knew my search on Youtube for a Sandy powered version of Battle of evermore was probably a wild goose chase, I was pleasantly suprised to find this rather excellent cover by the sisters Wilson

On YouTube or elsewhere, a gem is a gem. I can play this ten times a day.
