Arlene and I saw Grace and her band the Nocturnals at Lincoln Center last night. Great show, and she played two brand new songs!
You can get one of them from here:

Thanks to Keith for getting great second row center seats! It was a terrific show.
BTW. If you've never been and get a chance, be sure to see a show at Lincoln Center's Rose Hall, where we saw yesterday's concert. It has the best acoustics of any hall I've ever been in and it DEFINITELY has the most spectacular setting-- the backdrop behind the performers is a two floor glass wall looking out over NYC's Central Park and 59th Street.

This is what the venue looks like from the back of the room:
And it definitely sounds as good as it looks!
You can stream or download Grace's entire show from here. That woman surely can belt it out!

Hey Keith-
Did you see the N.Y. Times review of the show we saw-- http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/25/arts/ ... ref=slogin
The critic's take: "Vocally Ms. Potter has a high, fervent folk-rock delivery that suggests a grittier Patty Griffin."

Thanks Arlene. Great pic of Grace doing her hair thing at the B-3 too!
Patty's about the last singer she reminds me of, however.

I saw her last night for the first time and holy wow. H-O-T.
I honestly felt like the audience in the Rose or something when Bette first comes out on stage. Maybe even the #1 show I've been to all year… even counting Patty.
Set list:
Some Kind of Ride
Joey
Toothbrush and Table
Big White Gates
2:22
Come Into My Kitchen
Ah Mary
Apologies
Stop the Bus
Mastermind
Medicine (new song - wow)
If I Was From Paris
Sweet Hands (I'm not sure I've ever been to a show with a dirtier moving pit than during this song)
---
Watching You
White Rabbit (Move over Grace Slick!)
Nothing But the Water

Edited to fix the picture links.

Real glad you had an opportunity to see her, she's one of my favorite performers. Nice recording of her playing a killer show at Lincoln Center last year with her old band at this link (by far my most downloaded show on LMA).

And does everyone know T-Bone Burnett is producing Grace's forthcoming album?

Keith - Yeah, her dress started becoming concerning somewhere in the like third song, but she moves around so much she'd almost have to super glue anything to make it stay put. Luckily it never got too bad, just revealing a little of the dress matching bra.
And sorry I broke your quote.
More pictures are here: http://www.uncommonmusic.org/photos/con ... octurnals/
And yes, T-Bone produced the new album! Exciting on so many levels.

Whaaat?! Someone let me know if they find a recording of that cover. Grace Slick is my fuckin' hero, even though my MOM was a baby in Grace's heyday.
Nobody helps a liar.

Pervert! How can you get titillated by Nichole's photo when you could get twitterpated by bivester's boot pic? Pepper burnin my eyes wrote:Me likey "White Rabbit"
The show has been uploaded---

You can snatch the individual song or the whole show.
There's another upload from same time period with "White Rabbit" in the setlist.
