Tim Grimm is new for me. I saw the folkwax.com review of his latest album, Holding Up the World, a few months back, but just this weekend got around to listening to it. Now, I can't stop playing it. The album starts out very strongly with the title song, a song with a definite Patty feel to it, particularly with lyrics like this at its heart:

Holding up the world
Holding up the world
Some little things get broken
When you're holding up the world

Holding up the world
You can't protect your heart
And every night the crows they come
And pull it all apart

Holding up the world
You can't see when things go wrong
But you're hands are tied
You can't reach down
You gotta stand so strong
Holding up the world

You are not beside me
As I crawled into this bed
Sometimes we only want what's real
Sometimes it's the dreams instead
Sometimes the moon is waxing
Sometimes the moon does wane
But every night the moon falls down
And climbs back up again

With great backing vocals (including some from Krista Detor) on many of the songs, the album remains strong all the way to a rousing interpretation of Dylan's "Blowin' in the Wind". If you're interested, you can listen to the album now by clicking here.

Now I need to listen to his four earlier albums that I missed.
