Yes, there's a whole world of music out there besides Patty.

RIP Mitch Mitchell

Postby Our Kid » Thu Nov 13, 2008 10:12 pm

It would be wrong if I didn't mention Mitch Mitchell's passing yesterday. I've certainly written much more about musicians who meant less to me, but there we are. There are lots of chunks of ideas in a word document from last night but nothing seems to want to come together.

He had very few peers, as far as I'm concerned.

I wonder what the setlist was last night. I'm sure there were some windows rattling out there somewhere.
"You could write a song about some kind of emotional problem you are having, but it would not be a good song, in my eyes, until it went through a period of sensitivity to a moment of clarity. Without that moment of clarity to contribute to the song, it's just complaining."

If I dont see you no more in this world, I'll meet you in the next one... don't be late

Mitch was one hell of a drummer and a vital ingredient in one of the most exciting sounds in a most exciting era of music.

Wow. Totally missed this. I was working on a show in Houston when he died and did not see the news. That. Sucks.

I still have a cassette tape somewhere of my high school band playing Fire. The drumming was quite good. The guitar work... needed work.

Mitch at Woodstock.

And with his other lesser known band.

RIP, Mitch.
