She's gone. She wrote so many unforgettable ones... ("Be My Baby", "Leader of the Pack", "I Can Hear Music"...). I'm a fan and also have the two albums she recorded as a singer. I think her masterpiece (as a singer-songwriter) is this one:

I had heard of her but sadly, like many others, didn't know just how many songs she had penned.

Wow - what a list of songs.

Ronnie Spector sat in with Paul Schaffer and the band on Letterman last night singing Ellie's songs in and out of the breaks. That was a nice touch.

RIP, Ellie.
