Yes, there's a whole world of music out there besides Patty.

How was the Boston show? I'm waiting....
It's the same old thirst for more
Until they put you in the dirt

You saw me through a keyhole
Of a door that I kept locked
But I decorate the threshold
Just in case you knocked

Hi everybody, thanks to everybody who's bought the CD. It's really nice of you guys to do that and I hope you like the album as much as I do. Also thanks so much to Scott for putting in a good word about it.

The Boston show, itself went very well, I think. Someone was taping it from the soundboard (my set and Antje's of course), so hopefully I can eventually get a copy of it. My setlist was:

Never Say Die
Don't Make a Sound
Rehana

(and then over to Antje's little keyboard she let me use)

Burgundy and Black
Chelsea Hotel No. 2 (Leonard Cohen cover)

(then back to guitar)

Corona
Hell Holler's On Fire (tentatively titled new song)

Everybody was nice and listened and was receptive and I even had people asking me to sign their CD after the set which was sort of a weird feeling. Somebody told me I was a cross between Adam Duritz (of the Counting Crows) and Tori Amos. A strange but flattering comparison. Then Antje did her set which was amazing, I was almost as excited to see her perform as I was to open for her. She asked me to sing harmony on a bunch of the songs on her set, I'll put a little (MM) out by the songs I sang on.

Sex Bandaid
Long Way
Pompeii (beautiful new song about a breakup)
Streets of Soho
Reasonland (MM)
Merry-Go-Round
Hold On (MM)
A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall (Bob Dylan cover)
Goodbye Dublin Boys (MM)
Dandelion (MM)
Diamonds (something like that -- a beautiful new song) (MM)
Judas (MM)
Anna (MM)
Pearls

(encore)

Love (reggae cover)
Annabelle (MM)

Antje sounded so beautiful and she's so poised and articulate on stage. When she's singing you can hear a pin drop. It's amazing.

So as wonderful as the time I spent with Antje in Vermont and Mass. was, the bus ride to and from there was hooooooooorrible. Barring personal tragedies, it was the worst experience of my life. I can't even explain it. But I will post about it, perhaps, in the Things That Make Me Want To Poke My Eyes Out thread.

Thanks all you guys for your words of support about the gig. It went really well, and I'm very satisfied. She even asked me if I'd sing on her next album (the studio one that she's going to pitch to record labels), so I'm overwhelmed and excited by that too.

But anyways, thanks again everybody!

~Matt

yee-fucking-haw Matt! That is just great!!! I can't wait to hear the tape!

I'm sitting here picturing you up there singing harmony with Antje. That must have been so awesome. And you singing on her next CD? So many things to be excited about!

Glad to hear this gig worked out better than the Indian one (LOL). But sorry about the bus trip....!*very curious*

Thanks Matt! How very cool! Signing CD's, what a kick! I'm so glad you had some Pattyfriends along, everyone needs a comfort zone, and you had a great one!
So was harmonizing on Antje's songs a bit humbling? You must've sounded good with her! I heard she sold out of CD's. That's so great...getting asked to sing on an album!
Well, this should give you an inspiration boost, Matt. Use it to your best advantage! What's up next? :D

Had some time to listen to Matt's CD and am really enjoying it. Among my favorites are:

Don't Make a Sound, Burgundy and Black and Corona.

Matt is very honest with his words and has an incredibly emotive way of singing. Really good work Matt!

From the horse's mouth--"People who are or will be in Guntersville tomorrow, I'm playing "Burgundy and Black" agaaaain, as a finalist. It's at the Civitan Park Amphitheatre, TOMORROW, Sunday, September 18th.

I'm told I will play at 1:30, but I would get there at 1:15 if you're gonna come, just in case.

Re: Matt Morrow - new music

Hi guys,

I hate to be all self-promotey, but for anybody who wasn't already aware, I have a new album, Burlap and Gold, that you can listen to and download (if you like it) at http://mattmorrow.bandcamp.com. You can also read the lyrics, credits, and background story on the site. It's rife with plonking banjo, Southern gothic-isms, hopelessness, addiction, a multitude of crises of faith, and the looming spectre of death, so be sure to play it at your next big party!

Here's a video of me playing "Burn Down the Town," one of the songs from the album, live a few months ago:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dx5KnPL1aF0

And one more, "Amen, Amen, Amen":

If you listen, let me know what you think! Either here or on my music's Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/mattmorrowmusic

Thanks!
