Wonderful job, you two! Gill, you always sound fantastic. But on these particular songs, you sound especially at ease. Outstanding!!!!! Matt..your guitar playing...exceptional as always, and I LOVE the way you harmonize with Gillian. Your voices sound really sweet together. Thanks for sharing. Like Sandi, I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures of this meeting!

I am almost as surprised as you guys will be that I recorded this Madonna song as a fulfilled request by Gillian and Disco Fred. There is a much needed disclaimer at the beginning.

~Matt
The meteorite is the source of the light
And the meteor's just what we see
And the meteoroid is a stone that's devoid
Of the fire that propelled it to thee
And the meteorite's just what causes the light
And the meteor's how it's perceived
And the meteoroid's a bone thrown from the void
That lies quiet in offering to thee

Yay Matty!

When it first started I thought "hmm, what is this?"... but after the first couple of lines I was sold. I love how it grooves. Great interpretation! (And THANK YOU!) :D

ps- Brownie points to anyone who can correctly transcribe what Matt is saying before the song starts.

"Ok, so the thing is...I really only heard this song two times and I think this key is a little high for me but I don't want to play it in E flat cause there are too many black notes so, a disclaimer."

Gillian, do i get a cookie now?

I love that I got to hear a cute little southern drawl in there when Matt says "two times".....

Matt, I like what you do to Madonna. (Woops, this is another one of those comments that Smit will make fun of! )

I'll admit that I have no clue what this song is because I haven't listened to Madonna since the late 80's but, with that being said, I love this track. I've said it before and I will say it once again, Matt you have a wonderful voice! I will probably not listen to the Madonna version of this song because I find myself annoyed by her now that I am an adult but, this is a great track. Good Job Matt!

/a runs and hides from Fred and Gillian for finding Madonna annoying!
How lovely and how doomed this connection of everyone with lungs.

ss you can find her annoying if you want, but I fucking love that woman, AND that being said, I really like this version of Gone, it is one of the best of her newer songs. Awesome Matt, thank you!

I believe young Mr. Magma prefaces Madonna's song with the afore mentioned disclaymir.

Very nice version Matt.
It took a few lines to get me hooked as well.
Me Likey.
Good to hear your voice too! I thought that was cool.

Oh, and...I salivate in anticipation of my Brownie Gillian! :D

Since I knew the song already, I didn't have to warm up to it, I warm at just at the mention of it!

I know I just said this, but I'm really enjoying listening to it. . . over and over again! You bring a lot of passion to the song, Wow. Cool. Wow. Okay I'll stop now!

Ding ding ding ding!!

And we have a winner!!!

Very, very nice work, Smit. I was not going to reward the brownie points to anyone who didn't include the sniffing and throat clearing... not only did you pass that part of the test, but you went above and beyond by including the southern accent as well. Congratulations!!

Meeee too. I've had it on repeat since he recorded it last night. Literally, it hasn't been turned off. What a great success, considering it was mostly a joke/favor. I LOVE it!

yay "Gone" !!!

Postby disco_fred » Mon May 09, 2005 1:45 pm

Dearest Mr. Morrow,

As you already know, Madonna is my number one goddess -- my icon, my hero, the person I most respect and idolize and honor. She is the President of my heart. There isn't a Madonna song I don't know front to back to front again, and I have heard all the remakes and remixes.

That being said, your take on "Gone" (one of my Top 10 All-Time Favorite Madge tunes) is nothing short of brilliant, sensitive, thoughtful, amazingly sung, emotional, and hauntingly gorgeous. And I sincerely mean that with every fiber of my being. I think you made the song your own, and the piano was so beautiful. I really believe you should include this one on an album, in your set-list, and in concert. It glows.

I love that you dared to do something different and unique, and don't let what the public perception of Madonna is color your openness to try out something different. You listened to her lyrics and what she had to say, and you created a truly captivating version of this phenomenal song. I bow to you :D !!!

Gillian, thanks for sending Matt the MP3s that allowed him to hear it in the first place (and thanks for taking my suggestion seriously).

Matt, I really am impressed. I would never say something like that if I weren't, out of my loyalty to my goddess. Somehow I need to find a way to save this to my computer so I can have my own copy.

You did good, young man! Maybe there is a dance diva somewhere -- secretly -- hidden inside of you!

With disco shoes and thank you's,

Peace, love, and hair grease,

Matt Morrow's devoted fan,

Fred
