That is SUCH a fabulous album! I really wish the two of them would tour in the states.

I'm mostly using my iPod in the car now instead of the CD player, but other than Kasey & Shane this is what I've been listening to the last few days:

Capercaillie - Roses and Tears
Ray LaMontagne @ Westhampton Beach NY 05-30-2008
Okkervil River - The Stage Names
Kathleen Edwards @ San Francisco CA 05-20-2008
Arlene's fabulous Q2 2008 mix
Arlene's fabulous compilation of Patty's radio appearances
Anne Heaton - Give In
Cowboy Junkies @ Mendocino CA 04-30-2008
A great Tom Waits compilation my pal Bill Ivester gave me

I love them.

Duh. :D

I had quite a few of the songs on them already because my friend Mary had supplied me with a few OtR mixes in the past.

My favorite so far that I HADN'T heard before is Goodbye (This is Not Goodbye).

Roses in the Snow -- Emmylou Harris
The Pretender -- Jackson Browne
Astral Weeks -- Van Morrison
Bella Donna -- Stevie Nicks

I'm having a classic kind of day.

*singing "let the disappointments pass, let the laughter fill your glass, let your illusions last until they shatter; whatever you might hope to find among the thoughts that crowd your mind, there won't be many that ever really matter...."*

twist the words and place the blame, and tell me now, aren't we the same?

if it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have no luck at all

-- Albert King

-- Josh Ritter

Seriously good shit. I've been plugging that all over the airwaves. A little slicker than their other releases but still pretty raw. Gets me all itchy the way the best skanky blues should. :)

carry on,

Yes, Patty, of course, along with multiple cd's by:

Todd Snider
Tom Waites
Shawn Mullins (just one cd of his)
Kate Wolf
Drive By Truckers
Ryan Bingham
Stevie Nicks
Hayes Carll (great new release: Trouble in Mind)

Is anyone familiar with Glen Hansard? I absolutely fell in love with him while watching the amazing movie, "Once." Since then, I bought the soundtrack and have been finding anything I can on utube. He's in a band called The Frames ... some really cool stuff!

it's a brilliant folk-tinged alt-country punk pop rock 'n roll record.

and

just a beautiful record. this kid (from louisville) is amazing. simply an amazing artist/talent.

"a few honest words" & his cover of "a change is gonna come" alone are worth the price of the disc.

you can hear a stream of it @ http://bensollee.com/, do yourself a favor and have a listen.
"well, i'll bet you can't pronounce 'b-a-n-g-o-r' correctly any better than i can say 'louisville'... " ~patty to me after the kentucky theatre show

"and i'm so twitterpated about bill, i just tuned the wrong guitar...i said twitterpated, that's what i said." ~karin bergquist @ cst | dayton (sat | 04.09.2005)
