What a long, strange trip it's been.

Happy Birthday, Nick.

And keep away from the kiwano patch.

Yeah, fuck those things. I been using that patch for snow peas since the great kiwano disappointment of '07.

It was a great birthday, y'all, the best in a loooooong time. Thanks for the well wishes.

Dude, I'm white.....what the hell?

I ain't been around in a grip, but still pop through once in a while just to make sure that there still ain't anything interesting going on.

Jess (RedEarth) and I are still good buds, and got to hang out a while back. She is, flat-out, and amazing gal, and what she's managed to accomplish over the the course of the last coupla' years is beyond phenomenal. I'm proud of her.

Rob and I keep in touch pretty regular, and he's doing well, but still a Jew. I ain't given up hope yet, though.

Scott and I talk via e-mail, but he's too busy eating pop tarts to call me on the phone.

The birthday of 2010 (the one you assholes ignored) was of a different
flavor, as I spent it in the Harrison County correctional facility, most definitely the shittiest, roughest, most over-populated jail I've ever been to. It's somewhat ironic that a "jail cell" is an idea held with such disdain, when in reality, if you're in something like the pod, being a huge room housing somewhere in the neighborhood of 150 crazy-ass inmates who just don't give a shit, a small cell with just a few fellas is a fairly welcome idea.

I'm in a heap of shit this time. Court date is March 16, and if found guilty, I'll be goin' back, and undoubtedly have to defend my broccoli from the fat dude again. If he so much as looks at my broccoli on my next hitch, he'll spend the rest of his time in the infirmary, but that's how it goes.

Happy new year to y'all, and I sincerely hope it's a good one for all of y'all, even the douchebags.

....except for you, Roland. If I see you on the street, you better damned well be running, and have a big head start.

Love,
Nick

Just for that, I'm sending the Mitzvah Mobile to your house. Besides, sounds like you need to perform a few mitzvahs.

Update: I would like to inform you that on Patty's new album, Downtown Church, she performs a song called "I Smell A Rat." It was written by Lieber and Stoller, two nice (Yankee) Jewish boys, who also wrote a song called "Hound Dog," for some famous Pentecostal southerner whose name I can't recall.

So I ain't given up hope that you will join me as a Red Sea Pedestrian. As further motivation, I'll drive the Mitzvah Mobile to your Bar-Mitzvah.
