I was naturally very proud when I saw Christine Collister perform 'Mary' this week and the icing on the cake was that I got a personal name check for introducing her to Patty's "enormous talent" (her words not mine).

PM me if you want the link to have a listen to the studio demo recording of this.

I will, of course, have the good taste not to tell anyone you've spoken to me

Thanks for posting that Russell! Patty's all over the globe, eh? What I thought was interesting was how she nearly copied every one of Patty's modulations.....maybe that's what they do there instead of trying to interpret the cover?

Matt Morris covering Chief at SXSW in 2009: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFh8mpMA ... re=related

(He has a new album coming out in January called When Everything Breaks Even. Patty recorded harmony vocals on his song Bloodlines in a recording session in late 2007 that was produced by Charlie Sexton. Bloodlines is on the new album but I'm not sure yet whether the version on the new album will include Patty's harmony vocals.)

i always considered kelly clarkson as the unofficial leader/queen of patty-nation.

but recently, no mention of patty in her latest itunes playlist, or in a new york times playlist. that video gives me hope that kelly will someday return to the throne.

I was looking at upcoming shows in my area and noticed that a band named One More Girl will be playing in the area. I did some snooping and discovered that they're actually a major label country act, comprised of two young actress sisters. And it does seem that they named their band after the Patty song, since they're both big Patty fans, as they mention in this video of them covering "Nobody's Crying"...

^ They did a pretty good cover of Rain as well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwVCeNm5 ... re=related

And I love Kelly Clarkson version of Every Little Bit (no where near as much as patty but its good all the same )! And all the Patty covers she's done are pretty good. Which is impressive since I mostly think the covers never really compare to the original.

Kelly also covered Tomorrow Night, When It Don't Come Easy and Rain, but I don't think those have surfaced yet. Not a huge fan of her cover of Every Little Bit but her cover of UTTM still gives me the chills.

Molly Venter - Mary

I love this. To the point of obsession. What an incredible texture she has to her voice.
