^ Impressive! That may be the best cover version of Mary I've ever heard and possibly one of the best Patty covers I've ever heard!

"And now for something completely different....."

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/IjmLJ5gG9fM?fs=1&amp;hl=en_GB"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/IjmLJ5gG9fM?fs=1&amp;hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

I'm slightly concerned that I enjoy this as much as I do - considering that most of the people on stage could be replaced by a giant block of Edam.

However, it does serve to emphasise the underplayed layered production of the original and is a really interesting arrangement. Sort of makes you long for a "Brian Wilson sings Patty Griffin" album!

I'm speechless, but just not sure if it's in a good way or a bad way. I have to say that I dig the girl in the red dress (channeling Jan Brady? ) and the guy in the green shirt. They are way into it.

A select few of you will remember my small contribution to this Patty song being covered by Christine Collister.
'Mary' has been ever present at all of CC's shows for the last few years. which makes it all the more suprising that there's only this one instance of it on Youtube.
Christine's interpretation may not be to everyone's taste but give it a chance eh? :)

Here is Bette Midler's cover of Mary (live):

<object width="420" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/VmHDWUQiD4A?version=3&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/VmHDWUQiD4A?version=3&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Edit: I don't know why that won't embed here is the direct link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmHDWUQi ... re=related

I still (and always will) (no matter who covers it) prefer Patty's version but its not bad its better (in my opinion) of Bette's cover of Moses.

Didn't see these posted, so I thought I'd bring them over here. Kelly Clarkson did a section of her previous tour called Fan Request, where people could tweet a cover they wanted to hear. They'd pick a song, rehearse it the day of the show and perform a new song every night in each city. She did several Patty songs-- Top of the World, No Bad News and When It Don't Come Easy.

No Bad News-- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLHm6xA9Z-g

Top of the World-- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sR1XbUpahs

When It Don't Come Easy-- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sR1XbUpahs

Cute story in the last one-- it was the last night her back-up singers/former roommates would be performing with her before they left the band. "When It Don't Come Easy" was a song they'd sing around the house together and they chose to sing it at Wembley Arena as a farewell performance.

I just read that Natalie Maines covered Silver Bell on her new album. :)

Great young singer who loves Patty so much she included this cover of Nobody's Crying on her debut record.
If I died, he'd hear about it, eventually.
