Well, I'm loving the CD and would like to hear what other Patty fans think.

How about favorite song? They are all so good but I can't stop listening to "That Kind of Lonely". What's your favorite?

beginning to lean that way, but still give edge to "Go Wherever You Want to Go" I think. Dig the Plant duets a lot too!

Its absolutely beautiful! Patty should start making room on her shelf for the grammy thats coming her way:

Faves
1. Highway song/don't let me die in florida
2. Ohio
3. Go wherever you want to go
4. Get Ready Marie
5. Irish Boy/that kind of lonely

Couldn't pick a fave heh

Wow! So good to see you guys coming back around! <waving to Jen from Down Under>

This is a great Patty record. I keep getting stuck on repeat with certain songs - Highway Song, Wild Old Dog, Not a Bad Man. Still trying to warm up to Don't Let Me Die in Florida but it'll eventually sink in.

Wild Old Dog is powerful, and at the moment my fave.
Subject to change after more listening to this great CD

Okay. Let me be the one to commit heresy. My view may be tempered by a general depression but... While there are some songs on the album I like, especially That Kind of Lonely, I think this might be my least favorite Patty album. I enjoyed some of these songs much more when they were performed live as solo acoustic numbers but it's not just the arrangements-- I don't think this is a particularly gripping collection of songs. There. I said it. Let the stoning commence.
"You've got to sing like you don't need the money, love like you'll never get hurt. You've got to dance like no one is watching. It's gotta come from the heart, if you want it to work."
~Susannah Clark

"Ginger Rogers did everything that Fred Astaire did. She just did it backwards and in high heels." ~Molly Ivins

"If I had to live my life again, I'd make the same mistakes, only sooner."
~Tallulah Bankhead

I agree with you Arlene. There are a handful of solid songs, no true Patty-level classics and a few downright mediocrities. I can't really take her cover of Mom & Dad's Waltz and while Get Ready Marie was a fun solo number when you hadn't heard it before, multiple listens makes it kinda grating. And while appreciate that Patty is experimenting with certain styles and sounds, I don't particularly think it suits her talents or highlights her abilities.

It's funny because for me, this is Patty's best CD. I am not a big fan of the cover song but I love or at least like every other song :) I listened to it non-stop when I first got it. Anyway, I'm going to write a full review later, if it's OK. :)

I'd love to read your review. And I'd love to agree with it, but much as I do dig "That Kind of Lonely" "Go Wherever You Want to Go" and even "American Kid", hard to compare them to highlights from previous records like "Sweet Lorraine", "Mary", "One MOre Girl", "Rain", "top of the World", "Heavenly Day" or "Up to the Mountain".
