Boston/Lizard Lounge Meetup, Jan 30th 2007

Postby gillian » Thu Jan 04, 2007 12:26 pm

Hey people going to the Boston show!

I already posted about this, but Session Americana is doing the late show immediately after Patty at the Lizard Lounge on the 30th. I know for sure that Nicole, Mis, and I all want to go to that show as well.

Since there isn't time before the show for a meetup (since we'll have to be in line in order to try to snag seats), we thought it would be fun to just all stay for the Session show and make that our meetup. The Session shows are loud, rollickin' affairs so we'll be able to socialize plenty. Billy Beard (drummer on Silver Bell) is the drummer for Session too.... maybe Patty will even stay and watch the show. ;) (Hey, you never know)

Since it's after Patty there's probably a good chance it will sell out, so the best thing would be for everyone to buy advance tickets to Session. That way we won't have to leave the venue when Patty finishes playing... we can just all migrate to the group of tables/booths in the back area where we can all sit together. Tickets are only $5. Here is the link to buy tickets:

So everyone who's going, let us know what you think!

Got mine!

Ugh, though. I accidentally ordered a ticket for 1/9/06 (I'm great at following instructions). Then had to order again for 1/30.

Woohoo...

 Yes, I do have my moments. I think I surprised some people at our company party last Friday! Thankfully, it wasn't quite as spirited as what is pictured above.

A few pictures from last night:

Image
Sold Out!

Image
Singing Let Him Fly with Doug accompanying (you can see Keith there just to the left of Patty- we were all that close, but on different sides of the "stage")

Image
Doug and Billy Beard during Session Americana's set

Image
Patty singing Tomorrow Night with Session Americana. Possibly the most incredible thing I've ever heard.

Image
Me and Karen. There are a lot more group pictures but none on my camera.

And, here is her setlist:

1. Brand new song - I'm calling it "First Star" [piano solo]
2. Burgundy Shoes [piano, full band]
3. Get Yourself Another Fool (Sam Cooke)
4. Stay on the Ride
5. Trapeze
6. Useless Desires
7. Heavenly Day
8. Railroad Wings [Patty and Doug]
9. Making Pies [Patty and Doug]
10. Free [Patty and Doug]
11. No Bad News
12. Long Ride Home
13. Crying Over
14. Love Throw a Line
15. Up to the Mountain
--------
16. Let Him Fly
17. Getting Ready [Patty and Doug]

I guess everyone's too wiped out and in awe to have posted anything yet. More from me later....

I just want to thank everyone who is attending shows for the reports and the pics... they really mean a lot to a lonely fan in Amsterdam waiting for the new CD! I'm jealous as hell but so happy for all of you that you get to see her. It brings back great memories of the 3 times I was lucky enough to hear her live, and hopes for the future that it might happen again.
Thanks for sharing!

JUST got home like an hour ago (after missing my flight this morning. heh. Damn Silver Line breaking down! Pfft!) Anyway...

Really all I can say about last night without using every expletive ever invented is OH MY HOLY MOTHER OF GOD. I am never, ever going to forget that show. Ever. I was sitting literally about 5 feet away from Patty when she was playing piano. If I had extended my hand and she had extended hers, we could've shaken hands. I found myself averting my eyes from her because I was so close I felt like I was invading her privacy. LOL! It was unbelievable to get to see her play the piano songs that close. The whole night was freaking amazing. I'll post some pix AND some video later, and much more banter after I've gotten some SLEEP finally. Ugh!
