Thanks for those links, Bill & Bruce! Particularly, check out this vid, which shows the #1 most unexpected moment for me on the cruise:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Evdymoc2X34

#2 most unexpected moment was Brandi's piano jams right next to our rendezvous spot... they were so fun!

The other highlight of the week for me onboard was Patty's last show. We were going to wait in line to get in, like everyone else without early show wristbands... but hanging out at the ticket table a half hour before showtime, I was in the right place at the right time and scored writstbands for Nic and myself on the lower level. We went in before the show started, found our assigned seats, and then took a chance on two empty seats in first row center. The owners of those seats never showed up, and so we had amazing seats for one of the most amazing Patty shows I've ever seen (it is now in my top 3 along with the Lizard Lounge and Artists Den shows). Here is the setlist for that show (with OMG moments marked with an asterisk):

1. Summertime (on piano) *
2. New song (on piano) * [I'm terrible at catching lyrics, much less remembering them, on first listen, but one of the prominent lines was "I'm glad Jesus saved the lady" and I also remember stuff about rivers, water, a levy... so this may be inspired by New Orleans but I can't say for sure]
3. Get Yourself Another Fool
4. Stay on the Ride
5. Useless Desires
6. Flaming Red * [I wanted to hear this so bad and it happened!]
7. Time Turns Us Down * [One of the new songs she played a couple times during the 2006 mini-tour]
8. Free * [One of the other ones I really wanted to hear]
9. When It Don't Come Easy
10. Tony * [Second time hearing this on the cruise]
11. Tomorrow Night
12. Mil Besos * [Sweet]
13. Love Throw a Line
14. Truth #2
----
15. Let Him Fly
16. Mary (with Emmylou and Brandi)

Keeping with the Patty theme, here is the setlist for her first headlining show, the first time we saw her perform on the boat:

1. Kite Song
2. Burgundy Shoes
3. When It Don't Come Easy
4. Chief
5. Rain
6. Stay on the Ride
7. New song - "Til Morning" [First lines go something like this... "Last night I danced with a cowboy named Jim / I'm not much of a dancer but I twirled round and round with him / And I didn't think of you till the morning" ... or something like that. Basically a getting over lost love song.]
8. Backwater Blues
9. Long Ride Home [Emmy RAN out on stage and danced and sang - Longoria played the shit out of a tambourine, as Kris mentioned]
10. Heavenly Day
11. Tony
12. No Bad News
13. Love Throw a Line
14. Mary (with Shawn & Emmylou)
---
15. Up to the Mountain

For Patty's bonus show, she did the interview thing plus a few songs, which is also what they did for Emmylou. The first song she played was Up to the Mountain, which she hadn't planned but they had just finished talking extensively about that song, so it was appropriate. Then she dropped the bombshell and played the beginning of "Cat's Out of the Bag". I never really thought I'd hear any of those really old LFML songs... it was pretty sweet! She introduced it by saying it was maybe the first song she ever wrote, and after she sat down she informed us that she was about 16 years old when she wrote it! Her last song was "J'irai La Voir Un Jour", on the guitar, so that was also a new one for me.

As for the rest of the cruise... it was truly amazing. I had such a wonderful time, I really did not want to come home. All of the shows were so fabulous... the artists really did seem different than shows I've seen in the past... so much more warm and open and "with" the audience. This was more than just a floating music fest... I felt like the artists felt closer to the audience in some ways... like we were all part of the same little town. I would recommend Cayamo highly to all music-lovers, especially if there are plenty of artists you like.

On top of all the music and seeing many friends, I experienced the Caribbean for the first time. I fell in love with Jamaica, especially. I swam with dolphins! I climbed Dunns River Falls, I snorkeled for the first time, drank cold Dos Equis for $1 at 10:30 in the morning, shopped local craft markets, enjoyed beautiful beaches and the warm sun....

The only unfortunate part of the trip was when I realized I had forgotten the cord to charge my camera. So after the 2nd night, there were no more pictures from me. In a way, I didn't mind though, because it allowed me to really experience everything without being distracted by trying to get a good picture.

I wish I had kept a journal or something so I could remember what we did each day, but at this point it's just kind of all a big jumble of wonderful moments. I hope that I'll get to go again, and that even more Pattynetters will experience the fun of Cayamo!

I just want to echo the general sentiment that the cruise was truly amazing. I was also luck enough to attend all three Patty shows (early, late & the bonus). I thought the late show was pretty great until I saw her last show. I have seen Patty 4 other times and the early show was unequivocally the best patty performance I have seen. She totally rocked and played an amazing set list. I love that she brought back Tony, the guitar arrangement is fabulous. I also got to hang out a bit with Michael Longoria on the boat. Great guy, said Patty is great to work for :)

Thanks to Jim for posting a great set of pics that really captured the trip

Also, if you haven't listened to Brandi yet, definitely check her out. Amazing!

Thought others might enjoy these photos from Jim McKelvey. He's a professional photographer from North Carolina who was on the cruise. His photos have often appeared in No Depression magazine and other places. He also often posts on the Yahoo discussion boards for Gillian Welch, Emmylou Harris and Buddy and Julie Miller.

I love how good Patty looks.
I guess I'm taking my chances
Giving up the ring, throwing in the gloves
I guess I'm taking my chances
Trading in my things For a couple wings on a little white dove
And one big love, one big love
