How did y'all enjoy the show?
Patty's always great and tonight was no exception, but I must admit this was not my favorite Patty show. Fully expected major focus on new record, but kinda surprised she played almost all of it without playing 3 of the better songs, "That Kind of Lonely", "Not a Bad Man" and "HIghway Song". Also on a crazy stormy night, how could she not play "Rain"? On a positive note her solo versions of Sweet Lorraine and No Bad News were absolutely fantastic.
Really, really dug her version of Carry Me she opened with and the House of Gold cover as well. Kinda felt like "Standing" and "Stay on the Ride" didn't quite have the usual power and would have preferred her to focus on songs that featured her gorgeous voice more (hey, that's the beauty of a live Patty performance, that voice) - perhaps give us "Mary", "Top of the World", "Up to the Mountain" or "Long Ride Home". NOt a single track from 1,000 Kisses? surprising. Yet still enjoyed the show and really dug Max Gomez too. I think I kinda am not crazy about Craig Ross. Feel the 2 albums he produced are Patty's weakest (not counting Downtown Church) and the vibe he creates is not really what best suits Patty.
Love though, that she feels free to do what she wants and that she experiments and tries to do a show and not just play a bunch of songs.
All in all, I'm left looking forward to the next time Patty comes to town!
If I died, he'd hear about it, eventually.
