Patty's Best Guitar Riff

Postby MWM » Mon Apr 16, 2007 11:58 pm

What's your favorite of Patty's acoustic guitar riffs? One of those classic riffs where when she starts playing it at a show, you immediately know what the song is gonna be. I'm in a pollin' mood tonight. Just call me Disco Fred.

I picked "No Bad News." The main riff that repeats throughout the song is one of the the most joyous, exciting musical sounds I've ever heard. It's so simple, but so brilliant.

I have applied the same criteria to this thread as I did the underrated song thread when it came to picking which songs to include. I'm also only including songs with a distinctive guitar riff that Patty plays herself on the album.
The meteorite is the source of the light
And the meteor's just what we see
And the meteoroid is a stone that's devoid
Of the fire that propelled it to thee
And the meteorite's just what causes the light
And the meteor's how it's perceived
And the meteoroid's a bone thrown from the void
That lies quiet in offering to thee

I had to go with Chief but Long Ride Home was a very very close second. YNGWYW probably contains my favorite acoustic guitar riff though. Cool idea, I miss the polls.

I meant to put "Other," on this poll, and I thought I did, but I guess I didn't. You can't edit polls, can you?

You can, and I just did it for you. You just have to "edit" your original post.

I had to pick Stay on the Ride, because the minute I hear the beginnings of that song, I can't help but smile. Those were some damn hard choices though!

I voted other, but I think Stay on the Ride should have been my vote.

I was thinking of "Getting Ready" when I picked other.
If I died, he'd hear about it, eventually.

No Bad News.
I prefer the live pre-CD Patty and Doug guitar duo.

Forgiveness is my favorite Patty guitar part, but I don't think I'd call it a riff.

I love the opening riff of Mad Mission (way under-rated song, IMO). I also love the gentle, warm riff of Crying Over.

I like the Wiggley Fingers one a lot too, but it's really Jimi's.
