Til the Morning, lyrics

Postby jmp31 » Wed Sep 23, 2009 4:12 pm

Song by Patty performed on 2008 Cayamo tour, seen on YouTube. Being new to Pattynet I was not sure where to send this, but I suppose these lyrics (corrected I hope by someone with better hearing than mine) will end up in the lyrics section. It's a sad one:

Til the Morning
Last night I went dancin' with a cowboy named Jim
I don't dance very well but I twirled around with him for awhile
And I never once thought of you
I never once thought of you
Til the morning

I went drivin' today on a long empty road on a long empty road
No trees, no shade,
Sunburn filled the window and turned my skin red
I drove 500 miles with you in my head

I went down to the river and stuck my toes in
The water was fine so I went for a swim
I held my breath long, swam dark & deep
Swam back to shore and laid down to weep (?)

Sleeping somewhere, and no one can find you
Can't take me with you, can't take me there
Far, far behind you
I just want to see you again

Repeat: Last night I went dancin'.....

I'm somewhere, somewhere far, far behind you
I'd just love to see you again...

Thanks for bringing this song up, JMP. I can't wait to hear the finished product on her next album of originals. I can hope anyway.

Lovely song.

Thanks, Turk, for the comment. I, too, hope this one will show up on Patty's next CD -- along with a dozen or so others!
Is there any reason Truth #2 can't be among them? That's one of my faves. Did I read somewhere that she has been limited to re-doing only a few of the songs from Silver Bell?

I missed this thread.
The YouTube video seems to have been yanked though there's a cover version by some guy:

Is Patty's audio or video available anywhere??

Thanks for that! I'm still hoping she'll include it on her next CD.

With the help of Karen, this is what I hear..., and see on Patty's lips.
The word 'Someone' fits but when I look at Patty's lips, it's something else. So I need your help , friends.

Til the morning

I went dancin' last night with a cowboy named Jim
I don't dance very well but I twirled around with him
for a while, I never once thought of you
I never once thought of you, Til the morning

I went down to the river and stuck my toes in
The water was fine so I went for a swim
And I held my breath long, I swam dark & deep
I swam back to the shore and laid down to weep

You were sleeping somewhere, no one can find you
You can't take me with you, you can't take me there
I’m (someone)?? somewhere, far, far behind you
I’d just love to see you again
