Haha, does the answer that gets the most votes become The Truth regardless of whether she has a kid or not?

Supposedly her new album has leaked onto the internet, by the way. I have yet to hear it though. I'll probably hold off until next week.
The meteorite is the source of the light
And the meteor's just what we see
And the meteoroid is a stone that's devoid
Of the fire that propelled it to thee
And the meteorite's just what causes the light
And the meteor's how it's perceived
And the meteoroid's a bone thrown from the void
That lies quiet in offering to thee

On a completely unrelated note, I watched the Joni DVD yesterday--

It's more of a bio than a musical DVD (though there's plenty of music) and I was surprised how little I knew about Joni.
This DVD may not be good to buy since the music is chopped up by the biography, but it's very interesting to rent.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that she gave a child up for adoption when she was younger but later met her, though that might be completely wrong.

She also has written a song about Jackson Browne as a batterer. The rumour has it that he battered his first wife and then Daryl Hannah as well. Anyone know for sure? I hate to think of him like that...

Enquiring minds want to know.

Nope you're right, you're completely right. She went to art school and got pregnant at 19. In the movie I mentioned, she details her limited options (i.e. abortion wasn't even something one considered) and DID adopt out the daughter (curiously named "discofredricka").
I'm unsure of the date, but they did reunite though rather late in life for Joni ( I was somewhat surprised she didn't reach out earlier).

A read a really moving article a while back that talked about how her way of coping with losing her daughter was writing songs, and once her daughter came back to her, she felt like she lost the gift and didn't need it anymore.

Looks like it happens to a lot of women to me. Some lost their creative involvement in arts as early as they had children. It's understandable. It also can enrich the art. It surely does (but what do I know about it? :? ).

Most of my favorite female artists don't have children - how curious?

There are several exceptions, though.

Bruce, I totally love you :D !!! This made me laugh so hard.

So, big shocker, I know very little about Joni Mitchell. I will look her up on wikipedia later. I know her mainly because of the movie "Love Actually" and from a negative comment she made once of my goddess. I have heard a song or two, but didn't think much of it. Apparently she is a musical goddess in her own right.

!!!!

Oh, please go get Blue and/or Court and Spark as soon as you can! You'll love them. I think everyone should hear both albums before they die. Joni is one of the 10 greatest musicians/songwriters to ever live, if not the greatest.
