Essay in NY Times "Finding Joy in My Father’s Death"

Postby TontoBronto » Sat Mar 14, 2015 8:20 pm

This was posted on facebook, and I thought it might resonate with some Pattynet members.
We've had several losses on Pattynet, and members were exemplary in their support: Sandina lost her brother, Kris her Dad, and both were touched by outpourings of emotion from fellow members.
There have been other losses that were very gradual--long declines into poor health where the eventual death was a release from a rather abysmal existence.
The Times essay deals with the latter.

There's a definite beauty in the "Joy" the author feels, and I would wish that for anyone who has gone through similar experiences or who will have to endure that ordeal in the future.

Very touching and honest. Thank you for posting that, Bruce.
I hate hearing about the loss of our loved ones' loved ones.

Thanks Turk.
The article resonates with many of us, certainly myself included. The long slow decline is an awful experience.

The post was occasioned by the recent loss by one of our members, but the same sad ordeal goes on for so many every day.
